Tier 1 · Character through oracy
A whole-school oracy curriculum in which every term begins with a story and ends with pupils finding their voice. Lessons are ready to teach from the classroom board.
Overview
- Status
- Live Available to schools by invitation
- Year groups
- Years 1 to 6
- Structure
- Six terms a year, each with its own story, moral theme and oracy outcome
- Lessons
- Six lessons each term

- Oracy, moral development and writing, every term
- Delivery
- Teacher-led, whole class, from the classroom board. Pupils do not need logins or devices.
Oracy Hero teaches pupils to speak with clarity, structure and confidence, and to listen well, while exploring what it means to be humble, honest and kind. It removes the need for lesson planning, so teachers can walk into the classroom and teach.
How a term works
Each term follows the same six-lesson sequence, moving from a shared story to a spoken outcome performed by every pupil. Every lesson includes a moral theme discussion and its key vocabulary.
Lesson 1 of 6
Story
The term’s story is read with built-in pause points for discussion, then explored through activities and a plenary.
A year of Oracy Hero
Across six terms, pupils meet a range of spoken forms, each paired with a moral theme.

| Autumn 1 | Speech | Inner Humility |
| Autumn 2 | Newspaper Report | Inner Honesty |
| Spring 1 | Debate | Inner Kindness |

Assessment and reporting
After each oracy outcome, teachers assess every pupil against termly statements in three domains:
- oracy
- moral development
- writing
Each pupil is recorded as Working Towards, Expected or Exceeded. Teachers can assess by class or by pupil, see class attainment at a glance and produce class reports for governors and individual pupil reports.
For teachers and leaders
Give teachers back their PPA time
Lessons are presented in sequence on the classroom board, with the term’s story, pause points, vocabulary and activities in place, so there is nothing to plan or prepare. A built-in story reader and a resources library support each term.
Adapt for SEND and interventions in a click
At the click of a button, teachers can switch to an adapted version of a lesson for a class, an intervention group or an individual pupil, including for special educational needs and pupils learning English as an additional language. Assessment remains consistent, and every adaptation is reviewed by our curriculum team.
Curriculum guidance and professional development
A whole-school curriculum overview, year-group guides and view-only lesson plans help leaders see the full picture, alongside professional development for staff.
Co-developed with teachers
Our curriculum is co-developed by teachers across the country. Approved adaptations from classrooms join a shared library that every school can draw on.
Whole-school access
When a school joins, every pupil has access. Headteachers and school administrators manage classes, with up to three teachers per class.
Getting started
Oracy Hero is currently available to schools by invitation.
Book a demonstration to see a lesson as your pupils would, or sign in to Oracy Hero if your school already has access.
